The Salvation Army in Springfield will be celebrating National Salvation Army beginning Saturday, May 13 through Friday, May 19. Events will be hosted each day to highlight programs and services provided in the Ozarks. These include:
Saturday, May 13—Stamp Our Hunger Food Drive – Join us for the largest annual national food drive! Volunteers are needed from 1:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. to help move, sort and box food donations collected by our local letter carriers. Call 417-862-5509 ext. 116 to sign-up. Event will be at our main office at 1707 West Chestnut Expressway in Springfield.
Sunday, May 14—Sunday Worship – Join us on Sunday for bible study and a special worship service to honor mothers. Bible study will begin at 9:30a.m. followed by worship at 11:00a.m. Worship is held in the chapel at our main office at 1707 West Chestnut Expressway.
Monday, May 15—Mayoral Proclamation & Chick-fil-a Spirit Night – Join us at our Campbell Thrift Store at 1737 S. Campbell at 10:00a.m. as the Mayor will proclaim it National Salvation Army Week in the City of Springfield. Then, that evening come to Chick-fil-a on Sunshine & Campbell for Spirit Night. Mention The Salvation Army when ordering and we will receive 20% of your order total.
Tuesday, May 16—Blood Drive at Community Blood Center of the Ozarks – Community Blood Center of the Ozarks needs our help. From 7:00a.m. to 7:00p.m. donate blood at Thomas Donation Center on South Campbell and mention The Salvation Army. When you finish your donation don’t forget to donate your Life Points to The Salvation Army.
Wednesday, May 17—Donor Appreciation Day & Social Service Wednesday – We will be honoring our donors throughout the day. Without our donors, we would not be able to help so many in need. In addition, our Food Pantry will be open and our building will be available for tours throughout the day as we highlight the many programs and services we offer. The Career Bus will also be available to help ANYONE with finding their career path.
Thursday, May 18—Emergency Disaster Services Day – Thursday evening we will be hosting a meeting to build our Emergency Disaster Volunteer base. We are in need of volunteers who are willing to help out during times of natural disasters. Join us at our main office at 1707 West Chestnut Expressway at 5:30p.m. to find out how you can help! We will also be honoring our police officers, sheriff’s department, and Office of Emergency Management workers with a special lunch.
Friday, May 19—Senior Spring Clean – We are partnering with United Way of the Ozarks to help various Senior Citizen with a Spring Clean. Volunteers are needed from 9:00a.m. to 3:00p.m. to help with projects including mowing, trimming trees and general outdoor maintenance. Please call 417-862-5509 ext. 116 for details to sign-up.
