The Salvation Army in Springfield, MO is activating their Emergency Overnight Warming Center tonight, Tuesday, January 2 through Friday, January 5 due to predicted extreme cold. Local residents in need are encouraged to come to its Warming Center located at 1707 West Chestnut Expressway in Springfield. The warming center will be available to men, women and families.
“We have been able to serve over 100 individuals through this program already,” said Major Butch Frost, Corps Officer. “This program only operates because of the generosity of our community.”
The Salvation Army’s Warming Center will be open tonight from 7:00p.m. to 7:00a.m. Hot drinks, beds and other necessities will be provided. In addition, The Salvation Army is seeking adult hats and gloves to distribute through the Warming Center. Donations can be dropped off at The Salvation Army’s main officer at 1707 West Chestnut Expressway. Financial donations are also helpful.
