The Salvation Army in Springfield, MO is activating their Emergency Overnight Warming Center tonight, Monday, January 1 due to predicted extreme cold. Local residents in need are encouraged to come to its Warming Center located at 1707 West Chestnut Expressway in Springfield. The warming center will be available to men, women and families.
“We are continuing to monitor the weather and work with our area partners,” said Major Butch Frost, Corps Officer. “We are grateful to have a facility and community support that allows us to be able to house those in need during cold weather.”
The Salvation Army’s Warming Center will be open tonight from 5:30p.m. to 7:00a.m. Hot drinks, beds and other necessities will be provided. In addition, their Emergency Disaster Canteen would be available to those whom decide they do not want to come to a warming center by providing warm drinks, extra blankets, and other necessities.
