The Salvation Army will begin taking applications for its 2016 Back-to-School Assistance Program today, Monday, July 11. Families seeking assistance for the upcoming school year can apply at The Salvation Army’s main office located at 1707 West Chestnut Expressway.
“We hope that the assistance we provide helps level the playing field for these children,” Judy Mills, Springfield Corps Officer said. “While we can’t supply everything, we can help with the very basics and for some, these basic items are all that they’ll have.”
Assistance sign-up will take place Monday, July 11 through Friday, July 15 and Monday, July 18 through Friday, July 22. Families can come from 9:30a.m. to 3:30p.m. and should bring with them photo ID, social security cards for everyone in the household, and a current piece of mail. In addition, applications will be taken on Monday, July 11 and Monday, July 18 from 5:00p.m. until 7:00p.m. and Saturday, July 16 from 10:00a.m. to 1:00p.m.
