The Salvation Army in Springfield has made preparations to open should there be a disaster situation with incoming forecasted weather. The Overnight Emergency Disaster Site would be located their main facility located at 1707 West Chestnut Expressway.
To determine need in the city, The Salvation Army will work with local authorities and other area non-profits to determine the best course of action in the coming days.
“We are always happy to help our community, but especially when there is a weather related disaster,” said Major Mike Mills, Corps Officer.
The Salvation Army will operate its Overnight Warming Center as normal based on wind chill predictions. The above mentioned Disaster site would operate based on need in the city verses wind chill predictions.
In addition, The Salvation Army Senior Feeding program will operate at the Harbor House location tomorrow, Friday, January 13 in anticipation of the weather. The Harbor House is located at 636 Boonville in Springfield, MO. Lunch will be served from noon to 1:00p.m. in conjunction with the regular Front Line Feeding Program.
