The Salvation Army in Springfield, MO received a gold coin in one of its kettles on Friday, November 24. The coin was found amongst the other coins in the kettle while being sorted.
“You never know how God will provide the funding we need in order to continue our programs and services,” said Major Butch Frost. “There are so many different ways to give and this is a good example of that.”
Current gold prices are just under $1300.00 per ounce. The coin will be sold and the money will be used for local programs. Other unusual items have been found in local kettles before, including rings, foreign currency and gold teeth.
