The Salvation Army will be giving out brand new winter coats to nearly 1,000 local children Saturday, October 8. Coats are being given to children who participated in The Salvation Army’s back-to-school assistance program.
“We are very excited to be able to continue this aspect of our back-to-school program this year,” said Major Mike Mills, Springfield Corps Officer. “The needs of children in this community don’t end just because the school year has started. Having a new winter coat is important to the health and well-being of these kids.”
Coat distribution will take place at The Salvation Army’s main office located at 1707 West Chestnut Expressway from 9:00a.m. 12:30p.m. Volunteers are still needed to help with the distribution.
