The Salvation Army and Westlake Ace Hardware are teaming up to help provide relief from the summer heat to area residents. Westlake Ace is hosting a fan drive beginning Friday, June 23 through Sunday, July 9. The Salvation Army will distribute donated fans to local residents
“For the third year in a row we are privileged to partner with Westlake Ace to help individuals and families who need some assistance with the heat this summer,” said Major Mike Mills, Springfield Corps Officer. “Each year we receive requests for fans, especially from seniors, who do not have air conditioning. In some cases, something as simple as fan is the difference in needing medical attention for heat related illnesses.”
Westlake Ace Hardware will host a fan drive at their location at 2360 South Campbell. Community members can purchase a new fan or make a monetary donation to go toward a new fan. In addition, The Salvation Army and Westlake Ace will be hosting a kick-off event on Saturday, June 24 from 10:00a.m. to 2:00p.m. with hot dogs, chips and cookies.
Those in need of a fan are encouraged to call 417-862-5509 prior to coming to The Salvation Army for office hours and to check on availability.
