Springfield, MO (July 18, 2016) The Salvation Army is activating its Cooling Center and encourages local residents in need of relief from the heat to come to its main office located at 1707 West Chestnut Expressway in Springfield. The Salvation Army’s Cooling Center will be open immediately continuing until 7:00p.m. In addition, there is a heat advisory for the remainder of the week. The Salvation Army’s Cooling Center will be open from 8:30a.m. to 7:00p.m. daily until Friday, July 22.
“We want everyone to have a safe place to get out of the heat and find relief,” said Major Mike Mills, Corps Officer. In addition, The Salvation Army has a limited number of fans to distribute to the elderly, disabled and those without air conditioning. Those in need of a fan are strongly encouraged to call the office at 417-862-5509 for availability and office hours.
