On Friday, November 11 area residents will begin to hear the familiar ring of the bell! The Salvation Army will kick-off its annual Tree of Lights Campaign and the community will begin seeing the iconic red kettles in front of local retail locations. Volunteer bellringers are needed to help cover several thousand hours of bellringing.
“The red kettles are The Salvation Army’s largest annual fundraising event. This is only possible because of the generosity of the hundreds of volunteers who are willing to ring a bell at one of our kettles,” said Major Mike Mills, Corps Officer. “The money raised in the kettles each year is critical in funding our programs year round.”
Volunteers of all ages are welcome to assist with this program. To sign up volunteers can visit www.registertoring.com or call The Salvation Army’s main office at 417-862-5509 ext. 144.
Each year The Salvation Army assists thousands of families in Greene and Christian Counties. This year they anticipate assisting over 3,200 individuals through their Christmas Assistance Program.
