Every year The Salvation Army hosts several seasonal assistance programs for community members. These include:
- Thanksgiving Meal
- Christmas Assistance
- Christmas Meal
Back-to-School Assistance generally includes grade appropriate school supplies, new backpacks, clothing and shoe vouchers and haircuts. The availability of these items is subject to change based on funding and availability. Sign-up times are as follows:
Dates: Monday, July 17 – Friday, July 28
Times: Mondays—9:30am—3:30pm & 5:00pm—7:00pm; Tuesday—Friday—9:30am—3:30pm.
Distribution will take place Monday, August 7. Appointment times are given at sign-up.
Assistance is available to Greene & Christian County residents.
Please bring with you when you sign-up a picture ID, Social Security Card of everyone in the household and proof of residency.
Our Thanksgiving Meal is served at our Harbor House on Thanksgiving Day from Noon to 1:00p.m. Likewise, our Christmas Meal is served on Christmas Day at the Harbor House from Noon to 1:00p.m. Traditional meals including turkey, stuffing and etc. are served. All are welcome.
Our Christmas Assistance Program provides families with toys for each child in their household, as well as hats and gloves, food and stocking stuffers. Items received each year are subject to change. Senior Citizens are also eligible to receive Christmas Assistance. Dates will be available in late September.
