MAJOR PROJECTS TO BE COMPLETED AT SALVATION ARMY DURING DAY OF CARING
Nine companies to participate at various Salvation Army locations tomorrow.
Springfield, MO (August 19, 2015) Tomorrow, August 20 will mark the United Way’s largest annual Day of Caring Event and nine companies will be participating at The Salvation Army to complete various projects including playground refurbishment, painting, and life skills classes.
“We are so grateful to all of these companies, and the United Way, for coming together to complete these much needed projects,” said Captain Dana Cook, Associate Corps Officer. “The Day of Caring allows us to complete large scale projects in one day by bringing together volunteers from across the community.”
Projects to be completed at The Salvation Army’s main office at 1707 West Chestnut Expressway include playground refurbishment, including the purchase of new mulch and removal of graffiti, and general maintenance provided by 3M. Lowe’s will be painting the Family Enrichment Shelter and has provided paint and supplies for the project.
Mercy, Bancorp South, Shelter Insurance and the IRS will assist with clean up and donation processing at The Salvation Army Thrift Store located at 1737 South Campbell and Missouri State University will be serving lunch at The Harbor House Front Line Feeding Program at 636 North Boonville.
In addition to these projects, life skills classes are being offered throughout the day and are available to the public free of charge. A Nutrition class offered by Maxim Healthcare will be held at 9:00a.m., 10:00.m. and 11:00a.m. The IRS will be teaching a finance class also at 9:00a.m., 10:00a.m. and 11:00a.m. American National Insurance will be offering a Career Assistance class at 1:00p.m., 2:00p.m. and 3:00p.m. All classes will be held at The Salvation Army’s main facility located at 1707 West Chestnut Expressway.
