Extreme Emergency Cold Weather Shelter
Family Enrichment Center
Recently, The Salvation Army heard from a family who stayed at the Family Enrichment Center a few months ago. They were excited to let them know that one of the parents just passed their test to be a shift manager at work! The parent stated to the Salvation Army, “God is so good and it’s all because you guys believed in us! I thank the Salvation Army for believing in us and keeping us in your prayers, God is good!” While they lived at the the Family Enrichment Center, this family was able to secure employment, purchase a car, found housing for their family as well as finding a church home at the Salvation Army. We are so thankful for their story of hope and healing!
Emergency Social Services Programs Pathway of Hope Program
In addition to the monetary assistance provided to Christal and her family, she is also participating in The Salvation Army’s long-term case management program, the Pathway of Hope Program. Through Pathway of Hope, Christal has been able to learn budgeting skills, obtain referrals for mental health services, as well as locate and maintain employment.
Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say Rejoice! This week we celebrated with Christal as she graduated our Pathway of Hope program! During her time with us she has been able to receive individualized help with our excellent team through case management and pastoral care. We first met Christal when she came in for emergency assistance, which then led to a long term relationship, where she has learned many skills. She has learned about budgeting, how to interview for a job, how to make the appropriate connections she needed for her health needs and now she has been steadily employed for about 6 months! Through the one on one Case Management, the SA Group Life Skills Classes and all the support, Christal is ready to continue her journey to success!
Charles came to The Salvation Army Harbor House through the Respite Care Program (a partnership with Mercy and Cox Hospitals). He stayed for over a month waiting for his leg to heal. Upon completing the Respite Care Program, he was able to move into the full Harbor House Residential Program. While there, our staff worked with him, helping him to apply and start attending college full-time, where he will be getting his Mechanics Certification. In addition, we were able to assist him in applying for his disability, which was approved. Charles worked the Salvation Army program for six months, graduated and moved into his own apartment. He still checks in with us, giving us updates as to how he is doing!
Community Center – After School and Summer Day-camp Programs
About three years ago a foster parent called the Salvation Army office to find care for her foster children. This family faced many behavioral challenges with their children, but we were able to provide a safe and loving place for their kids to go while their parents were working. This family has since adopted the children and after three years, they continue to attend the Salvation Army After School and Summer Day-camp Programs! We are so grateful they called us and that their family is flourishing still today!
