The Salvation Army in Springfield, MO has new box fans available for those in need of relief from the summer heat. Residents in need of a fan are strongly encouraged to call The Salvation Army office at 417-862-5509 to check on the availability of fan.
“A fan can make a big difference to someone who does not have air conditioning,” said Major Mike Mills, Corps Officer. “We are grateful a this point we have several to give to out to individuals and families.”
In order to ensure those most in need receive the fans, The Salvation Army asks that fans are limited to the elderly, disabled and those without air conditioning. Fans are distributed during social service office hours; Monday: 9:30a.m. – 12:00p.m. & 1:00p.m. – 3:00p.m., Tuesday: 9:30a.m. – 12:00p.m., Thursday: 1:00p.m. – 3:00p.m., and Friday: 9:03a.m. – 12:00p.m. & 1:00p.m. – 3:00p.m.
In addition, The Salvation Army monitors the weather throughout the summer for excessive heat warnings or heat advisories. Should be need arise, The Salvation Army will open a cooling center during the day when the summer heat is at its peak. Additional information regarding the cooling center will be available as the summer heat begins to set in.
