The Salvation Army is able to assist thousands of community members every year because of the hundreds of volunteers that are willing to give of their time and resources to assist others. The ways to be a part of The Salvation Army are as diverse as the communities served. Opportunities are available for anyone or any group. November 9 – December 24 – Volunteers are needed to ring bells during our Salvation Army Red Kettle Season. Many locations are available across the Ozarks. We ring from 10:00 am – 7:00 pm Mon-Thurs and 10:00 am – 8:00 pm Fri & Sat. We ask for a two hour time commitment and no more than 4 ringers at a location but your group can ring as many hours as you wish or at several locations at the same time (Mall, Walmart, Bass Pro). December 17th & 18th 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. We need volunteers to help us set up for our Annual Christmas Toy Shop. We will sort toys, organize tables, stuff stockings, sort food and inventory toys.
December 20th – 7:30 am – 5:30 pm – BIG NEED Volunteers are needed to assist with our Family Toy Shop Distribution Event. You will stock tables with new toys, assist parents as they shop for presents for their children and pick up their food items. We need approximately 150 volunteers an hour for this event. We understand this is a long day so please feel free to volunteer as long as you wish without feeling like you need to be there all day. We need you at any time and would love to have you for even an hour! We have removed the age restriction on this event, however, anyone under 16 must be with an adult.
December 21st 8:30 am – Noon Volunteers are needed to assist with tearing down our Toy Shop and getting things stored for 2019. We will also be cleaning our gymnasium and setting up for our annual Christmas Dinner for the community.
Other Volunteer Opportunities include:
Front Line Feeding
Assist with serving lunch at our men’s shelter including cooking, serving, washing dishes, and clearing tables.
Help with data intake, greeting clients, stocking shelves, packing bags and inventory food.
Sort and hang clothing, price items and stock shelves.
Assist with various seasonal programs including back-to-school and Christmas. These activities include BELLRINGING, packing school supplies, etc.
Extreme Cold Weather Shelter
Volunteer as a monitor for our extreme weather shelter during extreme cold and winter weather.
Assist with the pick-up of various donations of food items from local businesses.
Help sort and pack food from various food drives throughout the year.
Monitor the front desk at one of our two shelter programs. Answer phones &check building regularly.
Become a trained disaster volunteer that is ready to assist with disasters occur around the country.
Our administrative offices have many opportunities to volunteer including maintenance assistance, kitchen assistance, data entry, as needed receptionist, social service in-take, filing and seasonal event assistance.
